The Fratellis have partnered with Beyond the Green and the Future For Humanity Foundation to work to make them one of the world’s first all-climate positive groups.
The group’s carbon footprint – which will show its support for the Beyond The Green festival in St Luke’s on Saturday night – will be audited, and they will look to reduce it where possible.
Then any remaining carbon will be offset by planting and growing hemp around the world and even in Scotland, with farmers being paid for carbon credits, thanks to the work of Melinda Woolf and the Future For Humanity Foundation.
The long-term partnership between the group and the two organizations is a commitment to work towards becoming fully climate positive as quickly as possible.
Jon Fratelli said: âThis is something that we have thought about a lot – we are aware of the mark we are leaving on the planet and we are trying to do what we can already.
âBut this partnership is really exciting. We have been approached by Beyond The Green and Future For Humanity and loved what they are doing.
âThey’re having a festival in Glasgow at St Luke’s this week and we’re making it our official after-show night so we’ll be there to show our support for their amazing work.
âHowever, we want to do a lot more and this is a very long term partnership. We are fully committed to working with the team to become climate positive.
âThis means that we will reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible, and what is left will be offset by growing hemp.
“It’s a really exciting partnership and I can’t wait to learn more about hemp and the amazing things we can do with it.”
Melinda’s Future For Humanity Foundation project, Regen Impact, works with farmers in the cultivation of industrial hemp to achieve United Nations global goals.
She believes musicians, artists and the entertainment industry have a huge role to play in getting the world to notice and accept that hemp can be a critical part of creating the solutions needed to secure climate change and make goals. global a reality.
She said: âIt is incredibly exciting to welcome the Fratellis to the Future For Humanity family.
âWe will work closely with them NOW to offset in an effort to minimize their carbon footprint and make them climate positive.
âHemp is an exceptional showcase that demonstrates the best solutions available. As a crop, hemp has an impact on âlife on earthâ because it sequesters more carbon than traditional agricultural crops.
âIn manufacturing, hemp can replace almost anything that humans use, and not only can it make products that are biodegradable, but they are actually regenerative in nature and good for the planet when grown because of its properties. carbon sequestration and soil remediation.
“There is no point in shaming or blaming nations, leaders, businesses or people for what has been done wrong in the past – it is about looking to the future and making the changes. positive that are possible now. “
